Injuries Plague Falcons in Loss to Pioneer
Sep 03, 2025 12:24PM ● By Jennifer CorrieaWOODLAND, CA (MPG) – A short-handed Falcon squad limped into Woodland last Friday night to face a solid Pioneer Patriots team and suffered a 6-40 loss.
In a seemingly similar scenario to last week and further compounded by the injury situation, RV had some untimely penalties and turnovers as well as some breakdowns defensively that Pioneer capitalized on as they rolled up 372 total yards of offense.
Still, Coach Mikey Badaluco is pleased with his team’s mind set and the growth he is seeing particularly in his underclassman.
“We’ve had some bad luck with injuries,” said Badaluco, “But this group is really close and are playing hard for us. Another good sign is that our young guys are getting better.”
One such player is sophomore Kobe Edwards, who gained 106 yards on six carries and scored the Falcons’ lone touchdown.
Edwards replaced Kavari Drummonds after the junior exited due to injury in the third quarter having rushed 12 times for 42 yards.
RV also got a gutsy effort from its quarterback Dominick Younker, who played through an arm injury completing four passes for 42 yards.
No other statistics were available by the Territorial Dispatch print deadline.
Seeking to break into the win column, the Falcons return to action on Friday night when Natomas (0-2) comes to town.
