YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place Friday, Sept. 6, bringing together community members to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. with the Festival Area opening, followed by the Opening Ceremony at 9 a.m. and the walk starting at 9:30 a.m. from the Plumas Fountain at Town Square, located at Plumas and C streets in Yuba City. Participants can choose from one- or three-mile routes.

Held in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. There is no fee to register, but participants are encouraged to raise funds to help the Alzheimer’s Association continue its 24/7 helpline, educational programs and research efforts.

Every registered participant will receive a Promise Garden flower, with colors representing their personal connection to the disease: blue for those living with Alzheimer’s, purple for those who have lost someone to the disease, yellow for caregivers, and orange for supporters of the cause.

Well-behaved dogs on leashes and strollers are welcome. Skateboards, bicycles, and wheelie footwear are discouraged for safety. For more information or to register, visit act.alz.org/yubacity or contact event coordinator Elicia Stewart at 530-605-2280, ext. 1224, or [email protected].
