NICOLAUS, CA (MPG) - The town of Nicolaus is gearing up for its annual Labor Day Parade on Monday, Sept. 1, delivering its signature mix of local spirit, creativity and community inclusion that thrilled crowds last year.

The day begins with a 7 a.m. pancake breakfast, followed by a 10 a.m. parade along Marcum Road. The route traditionally features school floats, gleaming vintage cars, spirited community groups, first responders, Mexican horsemen and a firetruck ready to delight the crowd with a refreshing spray from its hose.

At the end of the parade route guests can expect carnival games, live music, craft vendors and even horseshoe tournaments all working to draw in residents and raise money for local schools. Last year, each of the four participating schools reportedly brought in $6,000 from the event. These funds are then used by the schools' parents' clubs for various projects, such as renovations.

Streets will be closed early in the morning to accommodate the festivities and ensure safety. For information on participant registration, vendor booths or volunteer opportunities, visit the town’s official parade page at riolindaonline.com/nicolaus-labor-day-parade.
