YUBA-SUTTER, CA (MPG) - Local families in the Yuba-Sutter region will have multiple opportunities to gear up for the 2025–2026 school year thanks to a series of free community events offering backpacks, school supplies, haircuts and family-friendly activities. Three major events will take place in late July and early August, with support from school districts, community centers, and regional organizations.
On Thursday, July 31, the Yuba City Unified School District will host a Back-to-School Resource Fair at Gauche Aquatic Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will include free lunch for all ages, free haircuts, backpacks, school supplies and access to local agency booths. A school bus tour will also be available for children. Students must be present to receive any supplies.
Two larger events are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 2, both taking place in Marysville. The Tri-Counties Community Center will host its Back 2 School Bash from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1830 B Street. The event is open to local students in grades PK–12 and will include free backpacks, supplies and haircuts, as well as games, snacks and prizes. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver to participate.

That same day, Yuba College will serve as the site of a Bi-County Back 2 School Event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2088 N Beale Road, in the college’s east parking lot. The event will offer free backpacks and haircuts, along with food, music, games and a range of community resources. It is a collaboration between local agencies and nonprofits including the Yuba County Office of Education and the Sutter County Superintendent of Schools. Pre-registration is encouraged, and children must be present to receive supplies which are available while they last. Free parking will be available onsite.
These coordinated efforts are part of a broader initiative to ensure students across the region are prepared and supported as they return to school. More information about these and other upcoming events can be found at yubasuttercommunity.com.
