YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - The Acting Company invites audiences to take shelter from the storm and step into a slice of Americana with “Bus Stop” by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright William Inge. From July 18 and running weekends through Aug. 10, this heartwarming and humorous drama unfolds at a roadside diner where a group of strangers is forced to spend the night together during a fierce blizzard.
Directed by Stephanie McClain-Bollinger and assistant directed by Debbie Collier, this production showcases a talented and passionate cast bringing the characters’ hopes, fears and desires vividly to life. Leading the cast is Camari Dominguez as Cherie, a beautiful but adrift nightclub singer fleeing a man she barely knows, and Xavier Sawyer as Bo Decker, a brash, overconfident cowboy determined to marry her and whisk her away to his Montana ranch.
The ensemble blends seasoned performers with fresh talent, including Sian Compin as Elma Duckworth, a bright and curious young waitress; Cathy Willoughby as Grace Hoyland, the pragmatic diner owner; Josh Ruiz as Will Masters, the steady local sheriff; Chris Collier as Dr. Gerald Lyman, a troubled academic; Cloud Adams as Carl, the kind-hearted bus driver; and Geoff Wander as Virgil, Bo’s quiet and loyal father figure.
Performances will be held at The Acting Company’s theater, located at 815 B Street. The show opened Friday, July 18, and runs weekends through Aug, 10. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Tickets are available now at www.actingcompany.org.
Join us for this poignant and touching exploration of connection, loneliness and love, where even a snowy night in a small-town diner can change everything.
