Yuba-Sutter Region Mourns Tragic Loss, Reassesses July 4th Fireworks Celebration Plans

Jul 03, 2025 01:44PM ● By Joint Agency News Release

YUBA-SUTTER, CA (MPG) - It is with heavy hearts that the City of Marysville, City of Yuba City, Sutter County and Yuba County, acknowledge the devastating explosion and warehouse fire that occurred yesterday in Yolo County.

Devastating Pyrotechnics has been a trusted partner and a cherished part of our regional fireworks celebrations. Their team brought not just fireworks, but joy, pride, and tradition to our community on Independence Day.

We have learned that the fireworks intended for our July 4th show were destroyed in the blaze.  While public safety and honoring those affected remain our top priorities, our local municipalities (City of Marysville, City of Yuba City, Sutter County and Yuba County) are actively exploring alternative options for the celebration.

At this time, we cannot confirm whether the fireworks portion of the event will move forward, but we are working diligently on a Plan B that would still allow the community to come together in a safe and meaningful way.

This tragic incident is a sobering reminder of the many hands behind the scenes who help create joy for others. We ask our community to join us in holding the Devastating Pyrotechnics families in your thoughts.

Further updates regarding the event will be provided within the next 24-hours.
