YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - The City of Yuba City is pleased to announce the appointment of Josh Hubbard as the new Fire Chief of the Yuba City Fire Department.

Chief Hubbard brings 25 years of fire service experience, including nearly 19 years with Yuba City. Since joining the department in 2006, he has served as Fire Recruit, Firefighter, Fire Apparatus Operator, Captain and Division Chief overseeing Training and Risk Reduction. His career reflects a strong commitment to service, leadership and professional development.

Prior to his time with Yuba City, Chief Hubbard worked with CAL FIRE in the Shasta-Trinity Unit and the City of Redding Fire Department. He also served in CAL FIRE’s Public Education Office in Sacramento as a staff writer, contributing to The Communique newsletter and the CAL FIRE 100-Year History Book.

He graduated from the Shasta College Fire Academy and earned an associate’s degree in Fire Science in 2002, followed by a bachelor’s degree in journalism from California State University, Sacramento in 2004.

“Chief Hubbard is an exceptional leader whose experience and steady presence will continue to strengthen our fire department,” said Mayor Shaw. “He has served this community with integrity and care, and we look forward to the impact he will make in this next chapter.”

In accepting the role, Chief Hubbard shared, “It’s an honor to serve as Fire Chief for a department I’ve been proud to grow with over the years. I’m committed to strengthening public safety and continuing to serve the Yuba City community with honor, respect and devotion to duty.”

Beyond his fire service career, Chief Hubbard values quality time with his wife of nearly 18 years, Holly, and their 12-year-old son, Kamden. He credits his family’s support as a constant source of strength throughout his professional journey.

A formal pinning ceremony will take place during the Yuba City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 1 6 p.m. at City Hall after press time. Chief Hubbard will officially assume the role of Fire Chief following the ceremony.
