SUTTER COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The Sutter County Museum is offering families a vibrant and hands-on journey into Southeast Asia this summer through its newest traveling exhibition, “Voyage to Vietnam: Celebrating the Tết Festival.”

Open now through Aug. 9, the exhibit explores the sights, sounds and cultural traditions of Vietnam’s most important celebration, the Lunar New Year, known as Tết.

Designed especially for children and families, the exhibition features interactive displays that allow guests to immerse themselves in Vietnamese culture. Visitors can try on a traditional lion dance costume, walk across a bamboo bridge, create virtual fireworks, cook meals in a kid-sized kitchen and explore a lively marketplace. The activities are designed to engage all five senses while offering a meaningful introduction to one of the world’s most cherished holidays.

The exhibit was created and is circulated by the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose and made possible locally by support from the Sutter County Children & Families Commission and the Sutter County Museum Association.

“Last year, we had a similar exhibit, ‘Potter the Otter,’ that was really popular, so we are very excited to bring something like that back," said Molly Bloom, the museum's director and curator. “Whenever we can get hand-on stuff like this for families to enjoy, we’re all for it.”

Admission is free and the museum is air-conditioned. It is a perfect way to beat the heat while learning something new.

The Sutter County Museum, located at 1333 Butte House Road, Yuba City, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. For more information, visit online suttercountymuseum.org.
