SUTTER, CA (MPG) - The business might be up front but the party’s definitely in the back at this year’s 47th annual Sutter Buttes Day, returning to 7740 Butte House Road on Saturday, June 7, for a full day of fun, food and fantastic hair.

In addition to long-time favorites such as the morning parade at 10 a.m., vendor fair and cardboard boat races, this year’s celebration introduces something bold and new: the community’s first Mullet Competition. Locals of all ages are invited to show off their flow in the battle for the best “Sutter Cut.” The winner will receive 10 one-day swim passes, 50 raffle tickets, a one-of-a-kind T-shirt from @rainbelau.co, and, most importantly, lifelong bragging rights.

Festivities continue throughout the day, with the car show rolling in from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring vintage rides, muscle cars and crowd-voted favorites. The ever-popular Cardboard Boat Races launch immediately following the parade, giving teams a chance to paddle their homemade vessels across the community pool using only cardboard, duct tape and recycled jugs.

Attendees can cool off with a free public swim from noon to 4 p.m. or cheer on contestants in the cannonball contest at 12:30 p.m. A barbecue lunch with all the fixings fires up at 11:30 a.m., while the dunk tank promises splashes and laughs for a good cause. Car show awards will be announced at 2 p.m.

Organized by the Sutter Youth Organization, Sutter Buttes Day honors more than four decades of tradition while raising funds to support local youth programs. The event also marks the seasonal opening of the Morehead Family Community Pool, with something for everyone, whether you’re strutting your stuff, showing off your car or just soaking in the summer vibes.
