YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - Public Works and Development Services Director Ben Moody will be departing the organization to accept a new role with a neighboring city, effective June 5.

Moody began his Yuba City career in 2006 as an Assistant Civil Engineer. Since then, he steadily rose through the ranks, demonstrating a tireless work ethic, deep technical knowledge, and a true commitment to public service.

“We are proud of the work he’s accomplished here and excited to see him take the next step in his professional journey,” said Mayor Dave Shaw. “Ben has been a dedicated leader whose contributions have improved the quality of life for our community.”

Over the last 19 years, Moody has taken on greater responsibility and leadership roles in both the Public Works and Development Services Departments, helping to shape the City’s growth and development. Throughout his career, he led or was a key contributor on a majority of the improvement and development projects within the city; some important projects include Sunsweet Boulevard, Garden Highway widening, Bridge Street reconstruction, extension of City water services, growth annexations, Harter Road development, and development of the Bogue Stewart Master Plan.

As he transitioned to a more leadership-based role, he has focused on infrastructure planning and oversight for the future of Yuba City, including major transportation on Bridge Street and the 5th Street Bridge, pedestrian and park improvements, water supply resiliency, utilities infrastructure sustainability, and preparation for new residential and commercial developments.

“We thank Ben for his service and commitment to our community. His collaborative approach and attention to detail is truly impressive. We wish him continued success,” said Shaw.

Moody has always been deeply committed to Yuba-Sutter area, particularly in his contributions to local youth and community programs. Moody brings dedication and heart to everything he touches and has earned the respect of those around him through his steady leadership, down-to-earth style, and genuine care for the community.

“It’s been an incredible honor to serve Yuba City,” said Moody. “I’ve had the privilege of working with an amazing team and for a community that I truly care about. While I’m excited for what’s ahead, I’ll always be grateful for the city’s investment in me, my experiences during my tenure, the impacts I’ve been able to make with my work, and the one-of-a-kind memories I’ve made here. The City of Yuba City is a great place to live and work.”

Moody’s contributions to the City of Yuba City will be recognized by the City Council at its meeting on June 3, at 6 p.m. As Moody transitions into his new role, announcements regarding a replacement plan will be forthcoming.
