YUBA-SUTTER, CA (MPG) - The name Chris Pedigo has become synonymous with Yuba-Sutter photography.

For the past 12 years, Pedigo has voluntarily documented countless community events and local sports matches for the sole purpose of producing free photos for the community. His work has been published in local papers, including the Territorial Dispatch, as well as online media and even year books.

“There’s a lot of people that can’t go to the games, aunts and uncles, grandparents, and if I can provide a little bit of joy and a special moment, it's captured in time forever and that's my passion and that's what I try to do for the community,” said Pedigo

Pedigo’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. On Jan. 28, Sutter County supervisors decided it was time to formally honor Pedigo’s contributions with an award of recognition.

“We really appreciate you Chris,” said Sutter County District 2 Supervisor Dan Flores. “I’ve worked with you on both sides of the river and you just continuously demonstrate your dedication to the community and all the hard work you put in taking photos and sharing lots of information.”

Sutter County District 4 Supervisor Karm Bains was credited with sparking the idea to honor Pedigo and was also eager to express his thanks.

“I know I’m not one to keep a camera on hand other than my cell phone but you’re at every community event, whether it’s kids’ sports, high school, elementary school. There’s not an event that we go to that you’re not there to capture those moments,” Bains said.

Because Sutter County does not currently have a public information officer, Bains said that Pedigo’s work has also helped document important public outings for the board, enabling them to better promote and report their work.

“The cool thing about Chris’s pictures is that parents, like supervisor Bains said, don’t have time to take pictures because they’re watching their kids play sports,” said Sutter County District 3 Supervisor Mike Ziegenmeyer. “Chris is able to take all those pictures so parents are able to get on Facebook and capture all those moments and they’re great pictures.”

Pedigo said he appreciates the community’s support and looks forward to taking more photos.
