MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - Yuba-Sutter-Colusa United Way announced the retirement of Bob Harlan, who has served with distinction as executive director for 11 years, effective Dec. 31. Under his visionary leadership, United Way has strengthened its role as a cornerstone of community support for tens of thousands of underserved families in the region.

“The generosity and dedication of our community, through financial support, volunteer hours, and partnerships, has transformed countless lives,” Harlan said. “This success embodies our belief that we are truly ‘Better Together.’”

Harlan came to the community in March 1982 as general manager and shortly after, owner of KUBA 1600 Radio and Cool 104 FM.

During his nearly 30 years at the radio stations, Harlan provided an in-depth community operation that was a local leader in providing news and information. That includes so many memorable stories, including the in-depth wall to wall coverage of the floods of 1986 and 1997.

Harlan’s commitment to community service will continue with his dedicated service as a volunteer at Yuba-Sutter-Colusa United Way.

The Board of Directors has appointed current Board President Sarah Kotko as acting executive director to ensure continuity of leadership.

“United Way’s commitment to serving our community has never been stronger,” said Kotko. “We’re ready to build on Bob’s incredible work and continue growing our partnerships and creating meaningful impact throughout Yuba, Sutter and Colusa Counties.”

As part of this transition, the organization will relocate to 1510 Poole Blvd., Suite 204 in Yuba City on Jan 21. This move positions United Way to better serve its mission while maintaining operational efficiency.

For more information, contact Kotko at [email protected] or Terry Raley, executive assistant, at [email protected].

Yuba-Sutter-Colusa United Way has served the Yuba, Sutter and Colusa communities since 1969.
