SUTTER COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Congratulations to Detective Harrison of the Sutter County Sheriff's Office for being the first Champion of Children Award recipient. This award was presented by the Sutter County Multi-Disciplinary Team and Child Advocacy Center (CAC) for the month of November.

A Child Advocacy Center is a child-centered setting that provides a coordinated investigation and access to resources by professionals from multiple local disciplines and agencies.

The Child Advocacy Center is a safe, child-friendly, neutral, location for children to come speak with a trained forensic interviewer. The role of the Child Advocacy Center is to reduce the number of interviews and people the child must tell their story to, preventing further harm to the child.

The Multi-Disciplinary Interview Team (MDIT) consists of various agencies such as Sutter County District Attorney’s Office and Victim Services Program, Sutter County Sheriff’s Office, Yuba City Police Department, Sutter County Child Welfare Services, Sutter County Probation, Casa de Esperanza, Sutter-Yuba Behavioral Health and Sacramento - BEAR Clinic.
