YUBA-SUTTER, CA (MPG) - Veterans Day commemorates the time and day at which the major hostilities of World War I were formally ended: the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918.

President Woodrow Wilson first proclaimed Armistice Day on Nov. 11, 1919. Hence, every Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. marks the official Yuba-Sutter Veterans Day Parade commencement, rain or shine. This year marks the 22nd annual event sponsored by the American Legion Post 807. The parade route follows D Street in Historic Downtown Marysville.

Last year’s parade hosted 192 entries, which included over a dozen active-duty military and veteran’s organizations.

This year’s parade theme is Supporting Our Troops, Past, Present and Future. The Grand Marshal for the parade will be the Yuba-County Veteran’s Service Officer, Mr. Marvin King.

King is being recognized and honored for his 20+ years of service to the county and for assisting countless veterans and their families throughout his tenure. Finally, we are extremely excited to announce that there will be a T-38 Flyover from the 9th Reconnaissance Wing, Beale Air Force Base, during the opening ceremonies of the parade.

We are tremendously grateful to our local community, especially the City of Marysville, for their continued support in co-sponsoring this event. For more information, please visit our Facebook Page for details and discussion.
