YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - The City of Yuba City is thrilled to announce the successful completion of a collaborative clean-up effort along the Feather River, approximately one mile south of Shanghai Bend Road.

The project, which took place from Sept. 23 to Sept. 27, involved clearing and restoring an area previously occupied by approximately 20 active and vacant homeless camps.

This impressive feat was made possible through the coordinated efforts of Yuba City Code Enforcement, Yuba City Homeless Liaison Officers, Sutter County Sheriff’s Deputies, the Harmony Health Street Medicine Team, and the HEART Team. We are deeply grateful to each of these teams for their tireless work in ensuring a safe, compassionate and effective cleanup.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of numerous agencies, the clean-up was completed in just four full workdays, with an astounding six full forty-yard disposal bins filled with refuse. Special recognition goes to Yuba City Code Enforcement, Yuba City Public Works Streets Crew, Sutter County Roads Crew, Levee District 1 Staff and the Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps for their vital roles in removing debris and restoring the area. The involvement of the Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps was made possible by an Illegal Disposal Site Abatement Grant from CalRecycle, which supports the removal of illegally placed debris near the Feather River and other areas throughout Yuba City.

We are incredibly grateful to the Sutter Animal Services Authority (SASA) for their vital role in the safe removal of two dogs during the clean-up. This rescue was a true team effort, with support from the entire clean-up crew, whose coordination and quick response helped ensure the safety of both the animals and the community. We commend Sutter Animal Services Authority, along with all those involved, for their exceptional teamwork and dedication throughout this operation.

Additionally, Recology's ongoing support and partnership proved instrumental to this clean-up effort, as they provided and removed large dumpsters daily, ensuring the smooth and safe disposal of all debris.

The City of Yuba City remains committed to restoring the area while ensuring that individuals impacted by the clean-up were offered resources and assistance. This remarkable effort stands as a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration and dedication to the community
