MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - On Sept. 13, the City of Marysville Police Officers Association voted to strongly support Measure G on the Nov. 5 ballot.

Measure G will renew the current, voter-approved local sales tax without raising the tax rate.

“Voting YES on Measure G will protect Marysville's Police and Fire Departments from drastic cuts - without raising your tax rate,” said Officer Ryan Dial, President of the Marysville Police Officers Association.

“Measure G is a testament to our unwavering commitment to keeping public safety as Marysville's top priority,” said Dial.

Before voters overwhelming passed the local sales tax in 2016, Marysville’s Police Department was understaffed and short-handed, and crime was on the rise.

Crime has been down over 20% in Marysville since 2016 and over 40% in the past few years.

With the investments that Measure G will continue, Marysville will continue to maintain police officers staffing, protect neighborhood patrols and reduce 911 response times.

It's important to note that Measure G funds are strictly allocated for local use. By law, Sacramento politicians are prohibited from diverting any of these funds. This means that every penny of Measure G stays right here in Marysville, directly benefiting our community.

Measure G will have an Oversight Committee to conduct annual audits to ensure that Measure G funds are used as promised.

A broad coalition of Marysville business owners, long-term residents, senior citizens, teachers, ranchers, nurses, parents and retirees supports Measure G. Your support is crucial in protecting Marysville's Police and Fire Departments from drastic cuts without raising our tax rate.
