Public Comments Accepted for Proposed Local Service and Fare Changes

MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - The Yuba-Sutter Transit Board of Directors is accepting public comments through Sept. 19, on proposed local route and fare changes that, if approved, would become effective on or after January 1, 2025.

A complete description of the proposed changes is available online at www.yubasuttertransit.com/nextgen-transit-plan, from the Yuba-Sutter Transit Administrative Office at 2100 B St., Marysville, CA during normal business hours, or call 530-634-6880 to request by mail.

Interested persons may submit comments regarding the proposed local route and fare changes at the public hearing on Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. at Yuba County Government Center, 915 Eighth St., Marysville, CA.

Proposed Local Route Changes

Launch of on-demand microtransit services to replace local fixed Routes 2 and 5.

Streamlining of Route 1 to provide quicker cross-service area travel.

Extension of weekday service hours to 8:00 p.m. for the local fixed route and new on-demand services.

Elimination of the underutilized weekday evening Dial-A-Ride service.

Proposed Fare Changes

Introduction of a single ride fare of $1.50 for the general public and $0.75 for the discounted fare for the new on-demand service. 

Increase of the daily cap from $3 to $4.50 for local route general fare, and from $1.50 to $2.25 for discounted fare.

Increase in monthly pass prices from $30 to $40 for general fare, and from $15 to $20 for discounted fare. However, these prices will be subsidized in the short term to $20 for general fare and $10 for discounted fare, as grant funds are available.

No changes proposed to the Dial-A-Ride, Commuter and Rural fares.
