SHASTA COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Two former 2024 football players represented the area as they participated in the 47th Annual Lions All-Star Game on Saturday, June 22, at Shasta College in Redding.

2024 Yuba City lineman Ethan Barraza and 2024 Sutter linebacker Jeevan Chatha represented the two local area teams in the Southern Division II-III bigger school game.

The Lions ASG is played every June for the outgoing senior class to participate in the charitable star-studded game.

Chatha and Barraza played very well as they were effective on both sides of the ball both blocking the running lane.

Chatha told the Dispatch that the experience of the week was rewarding and great.

Chatha got to have newer teammates that were once rivals as Sutter was a member of the CIF Northern Section’s Butte View League from 2021-22 prior to joining the Sac-Joaquin Section in the 2023-24 school year.

Chatha got to play with former rivals from schools such as Gridley, Las Plumas and Oroville.

Chatha told the Dispatch that conversations between one another talked about multiple times checking the stats on one another, and seeing how they did and improved week by week.

Chatha had a great time as he focuses on beginning his first term at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and plans on playing for the lacrosse team.

The game between the bigger schools was within a score at the half before the Northern team eventually pulled away for a 44-13 victory over the South.
