BUTTE COUNTY, CA (MPG) - Caltrans (California Department of Transportation) alerted motorists on Monday that the reopening of one-way traffic control on State Route 70 (SR-70) was canceled, due to a rockslide within the Cresta Project area, caused by last weekend’s rainy weather.

The State Road-70 closure has been in place since late February from Jarbo Gap to the Greenville Wye in Plumas County. There is no estimate on when the highway will reopen.

Crews originally planned to reopen the highway at night with one-way traffic control starting Monday. But that plan was placed on hold as crews cleaned up the new rockslide and address any new damages caused by the storm.

Caltrans encourage motorists to check Caltrans’ QuickMap at quickmap.dot.ca.gov/before traveling for current road conditions and chain requirements. Road information is also available on Caltrans’ website at roads.dot.ca.govor by calling the California Highway Information Network automated phone service at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623).
