MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - Join the celebration at the first art gallery reception of the year in the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts in its newly renamed Art Box. It’s an artist triple play with visual artist Rebecca Knudson, children’s book author Adria Knudson, and pianist Gay Galvin. Join this talented lineup for a fun evening on Friday, February 2 from 5-7 p.m. in the Art Box Gallery, 754 Plumas St. in Yuba City. The free event includes interesting people, great conversation, and free appetizers and drinks. As an extra added attraction, special guest artist Rebecca will be joined by Adria Knudson, a children’s book author. But wait, there’s more…live music will be provided by local favorite, Gay Galvin, playing on the newly-acquired baby grand piano which is now a permanent part of the lobby.

Rebecca calls herself a painter of light. She recently quit her day job to pursue her lifelong dream of being a full-time artist! Her favorite subjects are landscapes, flowers, still lifes, portraits and even some architectural paintings. Rebecca loves to share her love of light and the beauty she sees in the everyday. Her acrylic paintings on canvas are bright, bold, and full of life.

Apparently, creativity runs in the Knudson family. Adria Knudson, Rebecca’s daughter-in-law, is a gifted storyteller and published author of several children’s books. Her enchanting Wispwood Chronicles novels for middle-grade readers are about magic and friendship.
“I take my love of magic and spells, mix that up with a taste of mysteries and clues, and then rub a little treasure hunting into it all before I finish. That’s where my book, Wispwood Chronicles, came from,” said Adria.

Each artist will talk about their work over the course of the evening. The Art Box is located inside the Sutter Theater Center for the Arts and is also home to several Anchor Artists. See original works of art created by metal sculpture artist, Dude Green, indigenous jewelry and beadwork artist, Jesse Harris, and ceramist Drew Sallee. Your purchase of a work of original art helps support the artist as well as Yuba Sutter Arts & Culture.
