Marysville Basketball Floods All-PVL Team Selections

MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - The season may be over, but the historic accomplishments for the Marysville Indians basketball boys’ and girls’ programs continued as they overtook the Pioneer Valley League All - League team selections.
For the Lady Indians, their entire starting lineup made the All-PVL team including four being selected for the first team. Senior forward Karisma Briggs was also named league Most Value Player.
Senior guard Sophia Rogers, junior forward Krystal Briggs and sophomore guard Demi Boykin were also named to the first team All-PVL team and junior guard Kaliyah Henry made the second team.
Lady Indians head coach Ike Prince said it was a great accomplishment for his team to have this season.
“It showed that the hard work these young women put in throughout the entire year paid off and they all deserve the recognition,” Prince said.
Prince added in the past two seasons at the helm of the girls’ program, they have broken records that included a six-win improvement and eight points per game improvement.
On top of being a first team selection Krystal was named to the MaxPreps All-Sac-Joaquin Section team as an honorable mention on the list that was released on March 8.
The boys’ program was equally represented as it included five players named to All-PVL honors.
Indians senior guard Josh Brown Jr. was named All-PVL Co-MVP for the second consecutive season and made second team on the ALL-SJS team that was announced by MaxPreps on March 7.
Marysville senior guards Amrin Mann and Kayden Ellyson were also named to the first team for PVL along with senior forward Shawn Smith also got first team honors. Rounding out the selections for the Indians, senior guard Ambelique Clark made the second team.
Mann was also named as an honorable mention to the All-SJS team. Indians head coach Stan Easter told the Dispatch that both programs allow kids the opportunity to play and have fun with the game.
The boys players had an entire starting lineup named to the All-PVL team except junior forward Josiah Arrington, who was part of their bigger starting lineup and is going to be a big force next season for Marysville. The Indians had a program best 24-game winning streak en route to their highest win total in Easter’s 11 years atop the boys’ program and first section title in a 30-year span for the boys’ team.
Marysville’s winning culture is contagious and the reinforcements both programs bring back next season have a strong outlook as they seek to add to the history books.
