Sutter Shotgun Shooting Wins Big at the State Sporting Clay Championships

The Sutter High School Shotgun Shooting Team won big at the State Sporting Clay Championships recently in Zamora on November 6.

ZAMORA, CA (MPG) - The Sutter High School varsity shotgun shooting team took first place in the Series shoots and second in the State Championship in Zamora recently on November 6.

The Sutter junior varsity team took first place in Series shoots and first place in the State Championships. Sutter’s top varsity shooter, Jaxon Smith, shot the second highest score in the shoot of a 95 which took third after a shoot-off. Sutter’s own Max Martinez tied for fifth place.

The top Sutter dawg on junior varsity who earned first place and the State Championship was Logan Munger with the highest JV score of 91 and Hunter Williams took third with an 86. Munger, Williams and Kaden Coleman took first place for the JV squad.

Sutter JV took first place in all three of the series shoots as a team, the state championship as a team and Munger took first place as an individual. 

“That is phenomenal!” Exclaimed Sutter trap, skeet, sporting clay and Olympic bunker team head coach Dave Samson.

Sutter’s Logan Smith took third place in the Young Adult Division with an 86. Sutter junior Brock Moody took first place as State Champion in the IE Division.

The Varsity team consisted of Jaxon Smith, Jack Munger, Nick Moody, Mat Alloway, James Cooley, Cloey Carrier, Charles Roberts, Tyler Siller, James Campbell, Taylor Bogle, Nate Jones, Camille Olenski, Gavin Triplett, Gavin Crawford and Logan Smith.

The JV team consisted of Hunter Williams, Logan Munger, Kaden Coleman and Ava Watson. The Sutter junior shooters team took third place among junior club teams. The Sutter junior team consisted of Brock Moody, Garrett Jarvis, Trevor Munger and Sydney Munger.
