LINCOLN, CA (MPG) – Sutter and Twelve Bridges matched up Friday night in Lincoln for a highly-anticipated Pioneer Valley League (PVL) contest between two teams that were undefeated in league play coming in.
After the first 12 minutes of action, the Huskies (9-0, 5-0 PVL) and Raging Rhinos (6-2, 3-1 PVL) were knotted at 14. However, Sutter shut out Twelve Bridges over the next three quarters to earn the lopsided victory.
Twelve Bridges scored first on Friday with a pick-six, as junior defensive back Jacob Baxley intercepted Sutter junior quarterback Jagger Beck and returned it 35-yards to the end zone with five minutes to go in the opening quarter. The Huskies responded quickly, scoring a rushing touchdown nearly two minutes later.
The deadly Sutter rushing attack kept it going, scoring another touchdown on the ground about a minute after tying the game. The Raging Rhinos evened the score with under a minute to play in the first period, as junior quarterback Whit Kruse connected with junior wide receiver Anthony Gallagher for the 27-yard touchdown strike.
