California is suffering from insomnia, sleep apnea and narcolepsy

A good night’s sleep is something a lot of us struggle with, even celebrities such as Kendall Jenner and Jimmy Kimmel have come out discussing their own sleeping problems. Sleep paralysis, insomnia, nightmares and more can impact the quality of our rest and can leave our days ruined before they begin.

NiceRx have looked into the Google search data over the past year to see what issues have been keeping Americans up at night, the study also highlights some of the most frequently asked questions, causes and remedies. According to the results, the top three most searched for terms are sleep apnea, narcolepsy & sleep paralysis.

California is searching for (data taken from June 2020-June 2021):

  • There are total of 994 searches per 10k people in California for sleeping issues.
  • The most commonly searched problem here is Insomnia, which received 284 searches per 10k. Closely followed by Sleep Apnea with 204 searches.
  • Only D.C. and Maryland have been searching more than California.

The study features a state level rundown of searches, allowing you to see how much different states are searching for different issues. The results show that D.C. is struggling with sleep the most, ranking the highest for all the topics analysed.
