“I’m extremely blessed to be given the opportunity to lead the Gold Sox for the summer"
MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - The Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox have hired Brock Ragatz as their new manager, the team announced on June 2nd.
Frontrunner for the position since it opened, Ragatz will replace former manager Brock Stassi who recently signed with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League.
The William Jessup University Assistant Pitching Coach will have big shoes to fill following the departure of former Major Leaguer Stassi who led the Gold Sox to a Sierra Central - Montna Farms Summer Series Championship last summer in his first season with the club.
“I’m very confident we’ve hired the right guy for the job” Gold Sox General Manager Tommy Lininger said in a statement. “In the short time we’ve been working together Brock has shown outstanding character and leadership qualities. I think he’s a great fit for our organization.”
The 24-year-old Sioux Falls, South Dakota native threw all 4 years for the Northern State University Wolves before making his way out west to take a position with William Jessup. Ragatz has spent the last three years with the Lincoln Potters and is well equipped to lead a team in a league of this caliber.
Commenting on the move, Ragatz said “I’m extremely blessed to be given the opportunity to lead the Gold Sox for the summer. As a part of the Lincoln Potters organization, it was always a thrill coming up to Marysville and getting to play in front of such a loyal fan base. I am looking forward to spending the summer in the Yuba Sutter community”.
Capacity is limited to 1,000 fans and tickets are on sale at goldsox.com. Tickets are expected to sell out.
