Three Fatalities Result from SR-70 Collision

YUBA-SUTTER AREA, CA (MPG) - On March 29, at 6:18 am, CHP Chico Communication Center received a call of a white Ford F250 driving recklessly (unable to maintain lanes and erratic speeds) traveling southbound SR-70 south of Lower Honcut Road. At 6:21 am the white F250 while traveling southbound within the northbound lane, collided with a Ford Explorer traveling northbound SR-70 just north of Chandler Road. The impact caused the Ford Explorer to veer off the east shoulder where it overturned and caught fire. The F250 overturned in the northbound lane and impacted with a white Lexus RX350 that was traveling northbound SR-70.
Both drivers of the Ford F250 and the Ford Explorer sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision and where pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. The driver of the Lexus was uninjured in the collision.
The use of alcohol and or drugs in this collision are unknown at this time.
