SUTTER COUNTY, CA (MPG) - The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an ongoing investigation into a shooting incident that occurred on Tuesday, August 25, around 10:58 AM. The incident took place in the 6600 block of Williston Road, just outside the City of Live Oak.

It has been learned that a male subject allegedly shot the victim in the leg during a dispute. The victim was transported to the local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.

The Sutter County Special Enforcement Detail executed a search warrant on Williston Road with the assistance of the Yuba City Police Department. Additionally, Encinal Elementary School was placed on temporary lockdown strictly as a precautionary measure.

Rusty Chastain (38 years old) is a person of interest in this case and is wanted for questioning. He should be considered armed and dangerous. Any information as to his whereabouts should be reported immediately to the Sutter County Sheriff's Office at (530) 822-7307, or 911 for emergency purposes.
