GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Children’s Hope announced it received a grant for $5,000 from Bayer Fund, which will be used to support the Leaps & Bounds program providing financial support to resource parents and their foster children who show an interest in extra-curricular activities.
“We are grateful to Bayer Fund for this grant award and the doors it opens to the children and teens in our care,” comments Niki Brown, Children’s Hope Director of Development. The Leaps & Bounds program supports academic success and extra-curricular activity participation for foster children in our community. Children in foster care can often feel disconnected from their peers, lack normal childhood and teenage experiences, and may not have received sufficient support to be successful in school. Engaging in educational and other extra-curricular activities increases feelings of accomplishment, success, permanence, community, and normalcy for children in foster care. Through the Leaps & Bounds program, we can improve the quality of life for the children and teens in our care, whether that be through private tutoring, purchasing soccer cleats, or renting an instrument.
This grant will not only provide support to our organization, but also the community we serve by allowing us to connect children and youth to their interests within the community. Foster children will develop skills, explore their interests, grow academically, build healthy relationships, meet inspiring mentors, and engage in and enhance the youth programs in their schools and community.”
“Throughout the years, the grants given through Bayer Fund have helped strengthen our communities across the United States,” said Al Mitchell, President of Bayer Fund. “We’re proud to be able to provide support to develop programs that help combat challenges such as food insecurity, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and support services to patients and families managing an illness or disease.”
In 2019, Bayer Fund awarded more than $14 million to over 3,200 charitable and nonprofit organizations to help address essential needs in food and nutrition, STEM education and community development. Over the last five years, nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received more than $79 million.
