Sutter Buttes Garden Club Awards 2 Scholarships

YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - The Sutter Buttes Garden Club has awarded scholarships of $1,000 each to two area high school seniors.  Receiving the Mary Barkhouse Memorial  Scholarship was Justin Navarrot, of Sutter Union High School.  Justin will be attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, majoring in Agricultural Management Systems.  Justin graduated with a 4.4 GPA, was active on Tennis Team, and was a community volunteer during his high school years.  He also works for Filter Farms, stating he is passionate about farming,  caring for our environment, and preserving natural resources.  He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chad Navorrot of Yuba City.

Also receiving a $1,000 scholarship was Cassidy Ann Davis, a graduate of Live Oak High School.  Graduating with a 3.87 GPA, Cassidy will be attending California State University, Chico, majoring in Agricultural Business.  She intends to earn a Pest Control Advisor license.  Cassidy was involved as a volunteer in her community and at school, and was an accomplished gymnast, and participated in other sports.  She was especially involved with the Future Farmers of America organization.  She held a part time job at Lomo Cold Storage.  Cassidy is the daughter of Scott and Julia Davis of Live Oak.
