MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - The Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox are set to take the field for their 18th season of baseball this summer. The City of Marysville, Yuba County, the Bi-County Health Department and the Gold Sox worked together to form a plan that will allow the Gold Sox to safely operate this summer providing much needed entertainment and an economic boost to the local community.

The Gold Sox will kick off their season on June 18th and play a 28 game, all home schedule.  Games, which for the 1st week will not be open to the public, will be played Thursday through Sunday.  The club will then open games to the public, with limited numbers being allowed entrance to the park beginning June 25th.

The Gold Sox will host the Sierra Central-Montna Farms Summer Series, a unique 7-week baseball competition among collegiate summer baseball clubs.

Commenting on the season Gold Sox GM Tommy Lininger: “We want to thank the City of Marysville, Yuba County and Bi-County Health for working so hard to make sure our community could have the Gold Sox this summer.  We worked through a plan that allows us to open the season initially without the public, but then transition into allowing the public to attend in limited numbers with extensive Covid-19 protocols.”

Lininger went on to say: “We have completely changed our operation to make this summer happen.  From playing all home games in the Sierra Central-Montna Farms Summer Series, to re-working our roster with primarily local players, to limiting attendance, to our five page Covid Protocols, we have done everything with the goal of having a season that is safe for the fans, employees and players.  We understand and appreciate that this will be a different season from years past, but we will be able to provide much needed entertainment after this long lock down.”

As the club just obtained permission to move forward, details regarding ticketing, detailed Covid-19 protocols, the Gold Sox roster and more will be released soon. Go to GoldSox.com for the most updated information.
