YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - The Yuba Sutter Symphony under the direction of Maestro Corey Kersting will present its annual Spring Fling Pops Concerts on May 4 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1390 Franklin Road, in Yuba City.  The concert features music from Broadway and Hollywood with specific music from “Moana”, “Harry Potter”, “Tangled”, “Sound of Music” and more.

Kersting states, “The audience always loves this concert because the music is so familiar and well-loved.  The Symphony will play some exciting arrangements of these popular pieces.  The concert has become so popular that this year we will have two performances, both on May 4.”

Guest vocalists will be Cassie and Ben Fifield.  Kersting adds, “We welcome Cassie back after her wonderful performance with us last year.  This year her husband Ben, who is also an outstanding soloist, will join with her.”

Also joining the Symphony for this concert will be the Twin Rivers Charter School Choirs, directed by Jim Achilles, singing an original song by Obie Leff, their middle school principal.  Leff also orchestrated this music especially for the YS Symphony.  The choirs will also sing other numbers as well.

Kersting says, “It is a joy to again have these wonderful choirs from Twin Rivers singing with us.  They bring an energy and joy that is contagious.  The audience will go home singing.”

The concerts are free, but donations will be accepted.
