Marysville Gold Rush Authors & More Features Sourdough Slim

MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - “The Marysville Gold Rush Authors & More” event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. “First Saturday” on May 4 offers a variety of activities.

The iconic Sourdough Slim is headlining “The Marysville Gold Rush Authors & More” event downtown and was monikered “the most entertaining cowboy singer-yodeler-accordionist extant” (The East Bay Express). Also performing is YawkeyWay; a new, innovative group headed by Skip Bertsch (former lead singer for Journey’s Edge). Sourdough will perform from 11 to 11:45 a.m., 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. and 2 to 2:30 p.m. YawkeyWay takes the stage from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1:15 to 2 p.m. and 2:30 to 3 p.m.

Tim Styczinksi and Bridge Coffee are providing specialty Gold Rush Blend and pastry treats. Styczinksi’s delicacies have won awards and have been featured in multiple television broadcasts and publications. Select authors and vendors will be on hand, and as of recently, Books & More Bookstore from Brownsville, Yvonne Scroggs, Rosemarie Mossinger, AnneMarie Dapp, Roger/Diane Funston, The Usual Bohemian, the Marysville Info Center, Judy Mann and Select Vendors/Civic Organizations have been there.

Special activities for the children include some creative art they can take with them. The legendary Pom Pom the Clown will be on hand providing balloon twisting masterpieces. The Stalwart Historians and Community Leaders, Mike and Sue Cejner Moyers will be in period costume administering a fun, gold panning activity and Gold Rush Stories.

Artist JohnL will create art in the Display Window and unveil a painting of President Howard Taft giving a speech at Sixth and A streets in Marysville.

Ruth Soto (‘Apples Personally Yours’ Art Gallery) and her Art Guild will line the Brick Restaurant patio (on the west side of D Street) with Gold Rush art.

Dr. David Smith and Sicilia Vineyards are providing a featured wine connect that day. In addition, a new 111k novel, “The Shadows at Cortez Square,” will be launched.

Judy Mann is the emcee for the South Room. Check out the treats at Edible Memories Bakery, where photos can be taken in the historical cutout of Charles and Mary Covillaud. There are book and prize giveaways planned, as well, on May 4.
