MARYSVILLE, CA (MPG) - The softball matchup between the River Valley Lady Falcons and the Marysville Lady Indians was cut short on Friday, March 22, due to weather conditions, and without being able to complete a minimum requirement of innings, the game couldn’t be recorded.

The game was called in the top of the fourth inning after River Valley had put five runs on the board with no outs in the inning and the wet weather affected some of the play on the field.

At the time the game was called, there was no clarity if the game would be rescheduled.

River Valley lost their Capital Valley Conference opener at Antelope on Tuesday, March 19. The Lady Falcons jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but a couple hits late in the bottom of the sixth inning propelled Antelope for the win.

The only games scheduled for the Lady Falcons this week are scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, March 30, as they host a double header against Yamhill-Carlton (Oregon), who are on a week-long road trip playing as they played a couple games in Bakersfield, prior to coming to the Yuba-Sutter area.

The second half of the back-to-back River Valley is scheduled to play against Bradshaw Christian (Sacramento).

Yuba City

YUBA CITY, CA (MPG) - The Yuba City Lady Honkers extended their win streak to four games as they went 3-0 from March 18-22 with wins over Woodcreek, Antelope and Lincoln.

The 1-0 win against Capital Valley Conference foe Woodcreek was the first win for the Yuba City program since the 2022 season, and Lady Honkers sophomore outfielder Taylorlyn Anderson hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third for the only run of the game.

Yuba City went 2-0 in the CVC as they run-ruled Antelope on Thursday, March 21, in a 10-0 win and on the following day in a 18-5 victory over Lincoln.

Lady Honkers Head Coach Patty Gates told the Dispatch she continues to be amazed and happy with the girls on a daily basis for all of the hard work ethic they bring on a daily basis to one another.

Yuba City had no games scheduled this week and they are scheduled for their next CVC against crosstown rival River Valley on Tuesday, April 2, as they host the Lady Falcons.

Gates told the Dispatch they are going to be focusing on growing as a team and getting focused on health in the break between games.

Sutter

SUTTER, CA (MPG) - The Sutter Union girls softball team is locked in as they continued their blasting offense into the stratosphere with two more run-ruled games for the ninth time this season.

The Lady Huskies outscored their Pioneer Valley League opponents this week with a margin of 40-1 against Colfax on Tuesday, March 19, and Bear River on Wednesday, March 20.

Sutter was scheduled to play Lindhurst and Marysville in PVL play this week before they are supposed to host Yamhill-Carlton (Oregon) today at 4 p.m.

Yahmhill-Carlton made it to the semifinals of the Oregon State 3A Championships last season, and finished as the 10th ranked team in Oregon at the conclusion of last season, according to MaxPreps.

The Lady Huskies high-powered offensive attack came into the week with hitting over .500 as a team, and like Head Coach Stefanie Danna expressed to the Dispatch in the preseason, the goal is to get ahead of teams early and often.

Following the conclusion of play today, Friday, March 29, Sutter will be traveling toward the southern California area next week as they compete in the Righetti Softball Tournament next weekend.
